Were would I use ALFRESCO Graincoat?
Shieldcoat’s ALFRESCO Graincoat is water based acrylic render that is mainly designed as a finish coat over the top of ALFRESCO Medium Sand or DAUDEAT High Build. ALFRESCO Medium Sand is a base coat on substrates such as Blueboard (fibre cement base sheet), texture base cement sheet, Styrofoam, polystyrene foam, Hebel, bricks and cement block, where the surface is quite flat. DAUDEAT High Build is cement based acrylic render that is used as a base coat on substrates such as Styrofoam, polystyrene foam, Hebel, bricks and cement block, where you need a build of 3 millimeters or more. ALFRESCO Graincoat gives you a flexible and coarse almost sandstone gained render finish. However, if you want a very fine finish you would normally use ALFRESCO Medium Sand, ALFRESCO Graincoat or DAUDEAT High Build as the base coat and then you would apply ALFRESCO Fine Sand as the finish coat.
How good is ALFRESCO Graincoat?
Shieldcoat has chosen a specific resin for their ALFRESCO range, the resin’s characteristics including excellent bonding characteristics, great durability, and very good colour fastness, flexible once it dries and washes up in water. Shieldcoat uses such high quality resins that the ALFRESCO range does not need a clear sealer over the finish coat to protect it from the harsh Australian environment, unlike some other brands of acrylic renders that require the sealer over the top to be able to give the same warranty. These characteristics in Shieldcoat’s ALFRESCO Graincoat give it excellent longevity and you great value for your money!
